Green Key Label
Ilon’s World of Wonders is committed to environmental care and sustainable development. We have joined the international Green Key program, which is the leading eco-label in the tourism and leisure sector. The label confirms that we operate responsibly, reduce our ecological footprint, and care for our visitors, community, and nature alike.
Our Principles:
- Eco-friendly daily operations – We save energy and water, and reduce waste.
- Responsible visitor experience – We offer high-quality service that supports an environmentally friendly mindset.
- Community engagement – We share knowledge and encourage our staff, partners, and visitors to make sustainable choices.
What Does This Mean for the Visitor?
The Green Key label gives you confidence that by visiting the museum, you are supporting eco-friendly solutions. A cozy and educational environment awaits you, where both nature and people are cared for. Throughout the building, you will find small tips and suggestions on how to make your museum stay more environmentally friendly.
When visiting the museum, you will find waste sorting bins around the building where you can dispose of packaging, bio-waste, paper, and mixed household waste generated during your visit. Hazardous waste and deposit-return packaging can be conveniently handed in at the museum ticket counter.
Drinking water in Haapsalu is clean. Although you can buy bottled water in our museum shop, we encourage all our visitors to drink our tap water. You can refill your personal water bottle at any tap in the main building.
We have phased out single-use tableware. If you plan to host a birthday party or another event with us, we encourage you to use reusable dishes, which can be conveniently washed in the 3rd-floor kitchen or in the handicraft workshop. If bringing reusable dishes is not an option, please choose single-use tableware made from eco-friendly materials.
